If a Pitchess Motion is Granted, the Judge Reviews the Police Officer’s Records

There is always a concern that when a Pitchess motion is granted, ordering the production of the personnel records of one of more police officers, that the judge would delegate the review of the records to a clerk who would overlook something.  Now, a recent case directs that the time-consuming task of reviewing the records for a history of similar or relevant conduct as allegedly at issue must be personally done by the judge.  To read more about this recent ruling, click on the following link.
