May a Judge Increase Bail Based on Consideration of Confidential Information?

When anyone’s freedom is possibly being taken away by a judge by increasing bail, that person is keenly interested in the reason underlying the increased bail.  The due process rights of our Constitution allow an opportunity to be heard to possibly contest such reasons.  However, if bail is increased based on information never shown to defendant, is that proper?  To read about a case wherein bail was adjusted upward and then ruled improper, click on the following link.
