Lower Standards Approved for a DUI Stop Based upon an Anonymous 911 Call

The following case summary is about a badly reasoned U.S. Supreme Court opinion that allows police to make traffic stops on the thinnest of evidence from a 911 call.  Yes, public safety must be promoted and protected, but as Justice Scalia pointed out, a traffic stop based on an anonymous tipster of “bad driving” was not even confirmed by the police, yet the stop was deemed proper.  To read more about this sad opinion, click here.
