Is It Proper to Require DNA Samples from Felony Arrestees?

If someone is arrested on an illegal basis for a felony and is forced to provide a DNA sample, is that an unlawful search and seizure?  It would certainly seem so, however, our U.S. Supreme Court and California courts have struggled to answer this question.  In the latest California case, People v.
